2011 Vendor Rules

The Springfield-Franconia Host Lions Club appreciates your help in making our flea markets a success. Without you, we could not support community needs as successfully as we do. We want to continue to operate in a fair, pleasant and business-like manner. To facilitate this we ask that you adhere to the rules below.

We thank you for your support to the Springfield-Franconia Host Lions Club. If you have any questions, please call Lion John Garilli at 703-960-6739 between 8:00 AM and 5:00PM or email Randy Mills at randymills7715@gmail.com.

1.       Our Fairfax County permit authorizes sales from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

ALL sales must stop at 4:00 PM!

Vendors should pack up and leave the premises by 5:00 PM.

2. Each car space will rent for $20 at the VRE. There is no discount for multiple spaces. Vendors should have the fee upon entry onto flea market grounds. Vendors must bring their own tables or stalls to display their wares. You will be charged full rate for any partial space you occupy in the aisles or roadway.

3. Vendors who sell food items requiring cooking or other on site preparation must obtain Fairfax County permits. Individual vendors may obtain permits to sell food from the Fairfax County Health Department (703) 246-2444.

Permit from other Counties are NOT valid.

4. No facilities for disposal of trash are available. The trashcans at the VRE Commuter Rail Station are private property and not available for flea market use. You must take your trash, packing, and unsold merchandise with you. Please keep your space clean and remove all sales items and debris before you depart. Vendors who leave trash jeopardize the Lions’ continued ability to use the market spaces for flea markets.

5. To avoid damage to trees, shrubs, and grass, no one may set up on grassy areas. Do not hang merchandise, etc.from the trees or bushes.

6. Vendors who park vehicles in the market area spaces will be charged for the rental space occupied by the vehicle. You may park for a short period of time while you unload your car next to your space. Cars may NOT be parked with engines running in the market area.

7. Lions will come to collect the rental fees at 7:00 AM and will give each vendor a dated receipt for each space. Vendors should keep receipts handy for presentation on demand throughout the day. If it rains before 11 AM, and the Lions decide to close the flea market due to rain, the dated and signed receipt will entitle the vendor to a free space at the next flea market the vendor attends. No refunds will be given.

8. If you notice someone who arrives or spreads out to cover nearby spaces after initial collection of fees, we request that you notify the Lions who are on duty at the Lions table.

9. Fairfax County prohibits parking on Hechinger Drive and has posted NO PARKING signs. Free vendor and customer parking are available on the rear of the VRE Lot close to the Train Station. Please, do not park in the Fire Lanes indicated with yellow curb stripes!

10. We have permission for vendors to use the rest rooms at BURGER KING at the VRE lot. Please use these facilities!

11. The Lions Club does not accept donations of leftover items; so don’t abandon your unsold merchandise on the lot at day’s end. Take unsold items, packing debris or boxes with you.

12. Vendors are responsible for the conduct and behavior of their children and must not interfere with the market.

13. ABSOLUTELY NO GUN SALES!!!!

LIONS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE OR LOSS OF VENDOR MERCHANDISE/PROPERTY.
